CIA World Factbook
Offers background information on government and politics in India.

US State Department Consular Information Sheets
Information on recent political developments and are issued regularly through the year.

Includes information about the organisation, as well as The Bulletin of SAPRA India (Security & Political Risk Analysis India), a New Delhi based independent, private sector think tank involved in peace and conflict studies in South Asia.

The Consortium Of Indian Military Websites Provides information on the Indian and Royal Indian Armed Forces, their role, historical background and their main branches. (This is not a government site).
